An
artist of color and vision, Claude Stormes paints in his second floor
art studio overlooking the historic downtown of Rossland, BC,
Canada. His painting
is inspired from the unique materials he
uses and his years of travels and experience in the arts.
Claude
is inspired by the mountains, the trees and the history of the
area. His paintings express the beauty he sees around him,
and his goal is to share these feelings with you.
Claude
is native to Southern California, where he received his formal
training at Pierce Junior College and San Fernando Valley State
College.

Japanese
Sumi painting has been a strong influence in his art work, and
travel in Korea and Japan deepened his appreciation for the
oriental approach to art and life. Earlier
work was done in oil, egg tempera, encaustic, and oil pastels,
but since moving to Canada he has been concentrating primarily on egg
tempera, oil and watercolours.

Impressions Art and Framing, Out of the Cellar and, most
recently, Adrenaline Adventures in the Prestige Mountain Resort
& Conference Centre Rossland, BC.

Egg
tempera uses a special handmade mixture of egg yolk and water to bind the
powdered pigments. The medium gives a translucent
appearance similar to watercolour, but with the resiliency of
oil. Egg tempera has been used as an artist's medium since
Pre-Renaissance times.
